Bryan & Kate, July 2012
We hired a Venture camper at the end of July 2012 for our first trip around Ireland and our first time in a campervan. We didn't really know what to expect and were slightly anxious about whether we'd be able to drive a large van and, having found a camp site, whether we'd get any sleep! Well we needn't have worried. We really enjoyed our trip, driving about 1000 miles by the time we sadly handed the van back. Everything (apart from a corkscrew) was on board and the van proved really snug when we needed it. It was really economical too - getting over 40 mpg.
We loved being high up and able to see over hedges and just being able to stop and have a cup of tea. We thought the graphics on the van were great - so we had no trouble finding it amongst the hundreds of cars parked at the Cliffs of Moher - although we did spoil one little girl's day because she thought we were an ice cream van! Tomas was great to deal with and really helpful and we'd love to go camper vanning in Ireland again - we've caught the bug!

Thank you for a super weekend. We were coming over to stay with friends on their farm so the campervan was perfect as we didn’t fancy camping. The van drove super well and had everything that you need for days on the road. We had really mixed weather so it was a blessing to wake up in a warm dry van. Tomas was super helpful and met us at the airport on our arrival and way back which made the whole experience even easier. Thanks a million and wish you a hot and sunny summer! Cheers Katie & Scott

Had a great holiday last week travelling around Cork! The camper van was perfect for our needs and was great to drive around Irelands narrower roads, had a blast would Definitely recommend you to our friends, family etc.

After 2 weeks in the UK as well as Ireland, we really had an awesome trip and can only thank you for the enthusiastic support and advice we received whilst using the Detour van. It was absolutely perfect for our needs.
I don’t think we quite realised just how wet Ireland is and we often had to retreat to the van for warmth and a welcome cup of tea. However we saw much bigger, cumbersome camper vans and were really glad that we had the Detour van as it was easy to drive and manipulate along some of the narrow roads and we certainly wouldn’t have needed anything bigger. The vehicle was reliable, the bed was comfortable, the stove and wash basin modern and easy to use and the power worked like a dream and we were always warm and dry. I have to admit that we didn’t use the table and chairs as much as I would have liked but they were good to have when the sun popped out. Thank you for always answering the phone – it was really good to know that there was help on the other end 24/7 and again thank you for being so friendly and accommodating, we felt like we were old friends and we will certainly recommend you to anyone wanting to tour Ireland and enjoy the flexibility of camping in style. – we saw some amazing countryside and visited some really isolated places. We will back to tour southern Ireland and look forward to another exciting trip in a Detour camper van.

Barry, Dublin, August 2011
We rented the explorer campervan for 4 days during August. We were both competing in the Gaelforce adventure race and decided that renting a campervan would be the best way to get ot the event and also prepare & recover after the race. We decided to go with Detour Campervans as the pick-up location is just outside Dublin and they were a lot more flexible with the pickup & drop off times compared with other companies who wanted to charge if we were running late. The Gael force race is made up of a runs, Kayak & cycling. We rented a bike rack for the campervan which was great and meant we could bring our own bikes safely. Renting the campervan was a great idea as it meant we were close to the action all the time and we could cook up the all-important pasta & chicken before the event. Once the event was over the celebrations began and after a few drinks it was great to have the campervan to come back to. A little tip for anyone, always remember to set up the bed before you go out for a few drinks, this makes it a lot easier on your return. This was the first time I rented a campervan and would definitely recommend it.

I rented the Voyager campervan. We rented a bike rack for our bikes and the surf boards fitted inside the van so we were all set after a demo of the campervan. We headed south to Cork & Kerry for some surfing & mountain biking, and then we headed to electric picnic. Cork & Kerry were really beautiful and there is so much to see & do. There is nothing better than waking up in some remote part of the country opening up the side door and taking in the breath taking scenery. On with the kettle & pan for a good breakfast and another day of adventure. The van was economical to drive and very similar to a car so it didn’t take much to get used to it. Over all we had a great time and we are looking forward to the next trip.
